What To Wear To My First Dance or Gymnastic Class?

A parents guide for what to expect on your students first day of dance and gymnastic class.

What does my student need to wear?

It is recommended that your student should wear a leotard to class. If you don't have a leotard for your first day, it’s no worries! Have them wear exercise pants (yoga pants) and a form fitting T-shirt instead. Your child is welcome to express their creativity through their outfit, as long as it is class appropriate. Please have their hair up and away from their face. A ponytail or braid is suggested. We have extra hair ties available upon request.

Where do I get dance and gymnastics shoes?

We sell all of the dancewear that your student needs for class in the office. Dancewear such as: Dance shoes, Gymnastics shoes, leotards, tights, custom sized hula-hoops and batons! Your student is welcome to borrow a pair of shoes for their first day, at no expense! One of our instructors can help fit your student for their shoe size in the office. All purchases for shoes and other dancewear can be completed through your parent portal account or in the office.

When should I arrive at the studio before class?

We recommend that new students arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the classes start time. If you have not already created your parent portal account, an instructor will be able to assist you with the registration process in the office. If your student is part of our pre-school program and is between the ages of 3-5 years old, we recommend that you arrive early so they can familiarize themselves with the studio environment. This will help to ease the transition into the classroom and reassure your student that you will watch them while in class. Before class new students can meet their teachers, socialize with friends, and get fitted for shoes.

Can I observe the class?

Absolutely! We have viewing windows available for both of our studios. The studio doors will be closed in order to minimize the students’ distractions during class time. You are welcome to wait in either of our two waiting rooms while your student is in class. If your student is in our pre-school program we ask that at least one parent or guardian stays inside the building, in case your student requires assistance in the restroom.

How do I sign up?

If your student loved their free trial class and wants to return next week, registration can be paid either online or in the office! Using your parent portal account you can register your student for classes at our studio. Be sure to check your email and the important information board in the office for events!
